Universal Studios spreads Christmas over Florida parks

Holiday parade celebrates movie characters and Santa

For us, Christmas is about family and embracing the true spirit of the holiday. We don’t dwell on the commercialization of the season and we enjoy making it more personal with our own traditions and special memories.

Kudos to Universal Studios in Florida for making our recent vacation a great Christmas experience. And yes, they do use the word “Christmas” in their productions and special events. We arrived the first week of December and the parks were already glistening with decorations, lights and special entertainment.

This photo story focuses solely on the holiday aspect of our visit to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. A future Wandering Rose Travels article will detail our overall experience with Universal Studios and share tips to help you plan a similar trip.

Enjoy the holidays. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

When we purchased our tickets by phone, the Universal Studios staff member told us to look for Earl the Squirrel who pops out of the main Christmas tree to steal holiday lights.

We loved the Christmas parade at dusk. The Minion balloon wearing a holiday sweater made me laugh.

Almost every attraction in the parks decorated for the holiday season, including Seuss Landing in Islands of Adventure.

Streetside performers like Mabel and acapella groups like the Mistletones sang Christmas songs to guests.

I melted when Marilyn and the Diamond Bellas sang “Santa Baby.” Honestly, I think they sang only to me in the crowd of tourists.
